We originally set up business in 1973 to supply local bookshops and newsagents with general stock.  Since the early 1990s, with the boom in quality local publishing and an ever-growing number of well-run attractions in Shropshire and the Welsh Marches, we have increasingly focused our business on local interest, topographical, industrial archaeological and children's books (not represented on this site, yet...).

The Website

We have created this website to offer readers the chance to browse and buy new local books from our range of stock without physically being here.  We have no 'bricks and mortar' shop of our own.

We like to keep things simple on our website: we sell new books from our own stock at the cover price; we post them within 24 hours; and we absorb the postage and packing costs for the UK into our own margin.  When the difference between first and second class post is minimal, we will usually send your books 'first'; and we hope you don't mind if we recycle good quality packaging materials.

Gift Fairs

Besides the wholesale and online sides of the business, we also work with Christmas gift fairs in Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and mid-Wales, and would be pleased to take new enquiries from gift fair organisers. With 20 years' experience selling at gift fairs, we tailor our Christmas selection to include more general books than displayed on this website, with a particularly strong and up-to-date selection of children's books, biographies, recently published novels, humour, historical and countryside books.
